Peer support providers are members of the LGBTQ+ communities across India. You can find details on their sexuality, identity, languages spoken etc. in their individual profiles. They were recruited through a rigorous application process and trained as part of the Community Wellbeing Project.

Peer support providers are trained on ethics, skills, perspectives and knowledge of offering emotional support to those in distress due to their sexuality and identity. They are trained by practising mental health professionals from the community and you can read about our trainers’ profiles here. This kind of emotional support is known as peer support. Your Peer Support Providers will provide one-on-one structured sessions to help you deal and cope with the struggles you may be facing such as difficulty with self-acceptance, confusion about one’s identity, lack of acceptance from family and loved ones, feelings of loneliness and isolation, relationship concerns, heartbreak, experiences of discrimination. Peer support is a system of giving and receiving help based on mutual respect, shared experiences and responsibilities. It develops our ability to see our lives not as “problems”, or “what we have” and “how it needs to be treated”, but instead interpret our experiences in a mutually empowering way.

Each peer support provider’s profile has information on how to contact them. You can contact them directly, using the mode of communication listed at their profiles, and schedule a session.

This is a strictly confidential service. Our peer support providers are members of the community and they understand and are trained on how to maintain highest levels of confidentiality and privacy.

The number and frequency of sessions is something you can decide with your peer support provider based on your needs. Our peer support providers are trained on such aspects.
