An Open Letter To My Chosen Family

Dear Queer Folks,
You have been my lifeline through and through when I was discovering myself, when i was experimenting with labels, when I was down in the dumps, and still are when I’m dealing with not being able to be out and proud, those few people, my queer family, even though we aren’t able to meet daily, or for those who are online, states away, I am so glad I found a support structure in the desi queer community and how glad I am to be alive and hanging on for the hopes of a beautiful future with you. I’m holding on to the hope of getting to know amazing queer people in different stages of my life as I grow older and build a family whom I cherish and who unconditionally loves me, something which I lack around my biological family much. I look forward to loving and living a soothing life, with my poly loves, with my queer platonic bonds. How this vision of a future has been able to be born just because of the love I’ve gotten from around me through the community. I so wanna give back with much intensity and effort the love i am not able to give right now the way you deserve it. 

I cherish each and every moment and person I’ve loved and have grown to love and admire, learn from and be thankful for in the universe- in the very short time we have on this planet , just because I found acceptance in the community online and offline both. So grateful to be living where I can look forward to making a beautiful chosen family as I go along in this life, being there for each other through ups and downs despite me not being able to be sharing my close peeps to my own biological family, I dream of a time when we can comfortably have chai and make food and do chores and travel together in the future, however long it may take me to get independent and free, it’s a future worth surviving any situation for.
