Dr Sannidhya Varma has been in private practice for the last 5 years and a Jr. and Sr. resident in the government sector for 6 years. His passion for mental well-being has allowed him to treat numerous patients. However, that created a problem: “Time”. He could not attend to one patient for more than 15 minutes, which was neither beneficial for the patient nor a satisfactory time for assessment and management for Dr Varma. During his practice, he would often notice that his patients were shy and embarrassed in visiting a psychiatric doctor and didn’t want their peers to know about this.

To combat the problems of time, stigma and apprehension, Dr Sannidhya Varma came up with the idea of creating a haven where people can go, sit and pour their hearts out without any societal repercussions or being judged. This led him to found ‘Helios’, a state-of-the-art psychiatry clinic based in the heart of Chandigarh.

Helios is based on the Greek God and personification of the Sun, suggesting light, warmth and radiance. Helios is also a homophone of ‘Heal’, symbolising Dr Varma’s vision for a place where people can come in to be healed. With Helios, Dr Sannidhya wants to break the stigma created by the society and focus on the mind because Mind Matters!
