Hey I’m Hannah (they/she). I am a non-binary queer person based out of Mangalore. I am also neurodivergent and disabled. I’m a peer support provider, medical student, and part-time teacher.
I believe in a world where none of us are expected to conform to any sort of mold. Where our different ways of being are celebrated, not optimized.
A lot of my understanding of support, mutual care, and community is shaped by the unique combination of marginalizations that I carry. Because I come from such disparate identities that are often in conflict with each other, my identity has been something that could never be defined in neat terms. Rather than seeing the world in black and white, I’ve come to embrace its many shades of grey. That perspective has taught me the importance of meeting people where they are, as they are. I believe meaningful conversations begin with listening, not certainty.
I have often been mistreated by the healthcare system and have witnessed the mistreatment of others. Now, as a practitioner within that very field, I often find myself conflicted. However, I believe there has to be space within it for marginalized communities. Care that is not at the cost of one’s own dignity or contingent on being forced to conform. Care that is so much more than the bare minimum that is currently celebrated.
I believe peer support is instrumental in all communities, especially marginalized ones. I believe our collective lived experiences hold an emotional wealth that is often minimized. Peer support is something that has existed within our communities for as long as our communities have existed. It is born out of empathy and the instinctive urge to uphold one another. I hope that, even if only for a moment, someone feels seen for who they are.
I try to create a space that is free of judgement and expectation. I listen with an open mind and heart.
Everybody deserves care that honors who they are. When we connect, my goal is to create a space where you feel heard, respected, and able to show up as you are. Rather than trying to fix or define what you are going through, I hope to walk alongside you.
This is your space. Show up as you are. Put down the weight you’ve been carrying, if only for a moment. Whether you want to reflect, rage, or simply be listened to, I’ll be here with you through it.
I love nerding out about anything and everything under the sun, especially books, community, and social justice.
