What is the duration of the fellowship?
6 months
Where will it take place?
This is a non-residential part-time fellowship. Fellows are expected to carry out the fellowship activities from their respective cities/towns.
What about Induction?
- An all-expenses paid Fellows Induction Training will take place from 20th March to 23rd March, 2020 in Bangalore.
- It is mandatory to attend this induction training.
Who is eligible to apply for the fellowship?
- Any youth (18-29) who are passionate and driven to make healthcare equitable for the LGBTQ community
- Our focus in this second round of fellowship is on the following states: Maharashtra, Goa, Telengana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Karnataka and Kerala
- However, applicants from other states will also be eligible and we encourage all to apply
What is the application process?
- Apply for the application before 31st January, 2020
- Short listed candidates will be invited for a telephonic interview at the beginning of February, 2020
- Those selected for the fellowship will be notified by 15th February, 2020
Is there any stipend available to the fellows?
- We are a not-for-profit organization committed to changing the narrative for the LGBTQ healthcare.
- We will cover expenses incurred in organizing community events/workshops in your towns.
- We will also cover expenses incurred in on-boarding of health service providers in your towns.
- We will cover all expenses in bringing fellows to Bangalore for the induction training.
- However, we will not be able to offer any monthly stipend.
How much time are the fellows expected to contribute towards fellowship activities?
- This is a non-residential, part-time fellowship. We encourage fellows to continue to do what they are currently doing, but assign 4-5 hours a week throughout the duration of the fellowship towards activities and learning opportunities.
What will be the engagement post-fellowship?
- To encourage fellows to stay engaged with the local LGBTQ community, we intend to invite proposals for grants and will have limited funds to give out as grants toward awareness and advocacy.
- All fellows will be invited to join an Alumni group where community related information, including opportunities from other sources will be shared.
- We are hoping to build a community of Safe Access Fellows across India, to share, learn, and provide support for each other as we collectively work towards equitable healthcare for the people of the LGBTQ+ community.
