To My Dearest Queer Teens
I know things might feel impossibly heavy right now. Maybe you’re navigating the confusing maze of coming out, or facing the sting of judgment, or just feeling utterly alone. It’s a lot. And it’s okay to feel all of it – the fear, the anger, the despair. You’re human, and these feelings are valid. But hear me, please: it *will* get better. Not in some vague, distant future, but in the small, everyday moments that are already waiting for you. The first time you find a community that truly sees you, the rush of pride when you say your name out loud, the quiet joy of discovering your own strength – these moments are coming. You are not wrong. You are not alone.
Find your chosen family. Seek out the voices of queer elders who have walked this path before you and let their stories be your compass. Create art, write, and tell your stories that reflect your truth. Dance to the beat of your own drum. Most importantly, be kind to yourself. You are learning, growing, and discovering who you are and you must embrace the journey, the stumbles, the triumphs, the everything. The world needs your unique voice, your perspective, your beautiful, queer self. Don’t dim your light. Let it shine brightly, and know that you are loved, cherished, and celebrated. Everything will be fine.
With all my love and hope,
A fellow queer in the community.
